
Slugs Split with Cal Lutheran and Chicago in Weekend Tilt

Cal Lutheran 3, UC Santa Cruz 4 (March 14)
The Banana Slugs earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Cal Lutheran on Saturday. UCSC took the doubles point by winning two of three matches. Benjamin Wang and Rocco Melendez won at No. 1 doubles 6-3, and Peter Liang and Gavin Sontag cruised at No. 2 doubles 6-2.
In singles play, Benjamin Wang led the way with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. Gavin Sontag gutted out a three-set battle at No. 2 singles, winning 7-6, 4-6, 7-5 in the match of the day. Hari Raghavan rounded out the Banana Slugs' singles victories with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles.
Chicago 7, UC Santa Cruz 0 (March 15)
The Banana Slugs ran into a tough Chicago squad on Sunday, falling 7-0. Chicago swept the doubles matches and carried that momentum into singles play, taking all six singles matches. Benjamin Wang competed well at No. 1 singles, falling 6-3, 6-2, while Gavin Sontag and Hari Raghavan each pushed their opponents at No. 2 and No. 5 singles.
