Women's track places second, men third at C2C Championship

FREDERICKSBURG, VA- The Banana Slugs excelled at the Coast-To-Coast Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by University of Mary Washington. For the Women's Santa Cruz Track and Field, they placed 2nd in the Championship. It was their highest finish in their three years of being in the league.
The Men's Track and Field team placed 3rd with 173.

For the individual scores for the Women's team, Chloe Solomua and Riley Martel-Phillips both scored 20 points each in the track events, helping the team make a total of 179 points. Helena Janku and Ash Baudin helped contribute by each getting 14 points. Amaya Cummins and Hanna Hekkanen both contributed 10 points. Solomua was awarded the Conference's Track Athlete of the Meet Award.
Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
In the Men's 100 meter dash, Jonathan Stenger placed 4th with a time of 11.20 and Tyler Vo placed 8th with a time of 11.27. Cummins got a new school record and placed 3rd in the Women's 100 Meter dash with a time of 12.52.
 Jack Kibort placed 4th with a time of 22.44 and Stenger placed 8th with a time of 23.13 in the Men's 200 Meter dash.

For the Men's 400 Meter dash, Ethan Bizzack got a new personal record and school record for the second time this month, placing 3rd in 49.33. In the Women's 400 Meter dash, Caitlin Donovan, Kayla Galvez, and Sophie Jimenez all set new personal records. Donovan placed 2nd with a time of 59.99, becoming the first woman in school history to go under one minute. Galvez placed 3rd with a time of 1:01.60, and Jimenez placed 5th in 1:02.91.          Â

For the Men's 4x100, Bizzack, Stenger, Tyler Vo, and Kibort all placed 4th with a time of 42.61. The Women's 4x100 placed 1st with the team of Cummins, Solomua, Galvez, and Donovan with a school-record time of 48.40.

Bizzack, Aaron Hillberg, Manogya Yara, and Carson Nagel placed 2nd in the Men's 4x400 relay with a time of 3:22.83. The Women's 4x400 did an outstanding job, placing 1st with a time of 4:09.72 with the help of Donovan, Solomua, Cummins, and Baudin.

In the Men 110 Hurdles, Shea Wissler placed 4th with a time of 15.63 and Sotirios Kougiouris got a new personal record and placed 6th in 16.12. For the Women's 100 Hurdles Solomua placed 1st and once again got a new personal and school record with a time 14.43, Mackenzie Jones set a new personal record and placed 4th with a time of 17.00, Isha Kasanagottu received a new personal record and placed 5th with a time of 17.69, and Bella Sarao placed 6th with a time of 18.29.

In the Women's 400 Meter Hurdles, Solomua got a new personal record as well, finishing 1st with a time of 1:05.93 for a sweep of the hurdles. Baudin set a new personal record and was 3rd in 1:10.29, Mackenzie Jones was 4th with a time of 1:12.29, and Alicia Dasalla placed 5th with 1:13.95.

Yara set a new personal record and won the Men's 400 Hurdles with a time of 55.64, Drew Koesel placed 4th with a time of 58.38, and Sotirios Kougiouris placed 5th in 59.89 .
 Middle Distance/Distance
For the Men's 3000 Meter Steeplechase, Camden Hebert placed 1st with a time of 9:38.54. Nick Sciole got a new personal record and placed 5th with a time of 10:19.71. For the Women's 3000 Meter Steeplechase, Emma Wirz placed 2nd and also got a new personal record with a time of 11:49.27 and Cheryl Chuang placed 3rd with a time of 12:22.06.

In the Men's 1500 Meter Run, Brett Bailey placed 2nd with a new personal record time of 3:55.93. Raymond Ingersoll placed 3rd with a time 4:01.28 and Casey Orton placed 4th with a time of 4:01.48. As for the Women's 1500 Meter run, Riley Martel-Phillips placed 1st with a time of 4:41.44, Ash Baudin placed 2nd with a time of 4:45.71, and Helena Janku placed 3rd and also got a new personal record with a time of 4:48.79.
 Eric Anderson won the Men's 800 Meter run with a time of 1:52.69. While Hillberg got a new personal record and placed 2nd with a time of 1:53.00, Holden Spencer placed 3rd in 1:54.52, and Bailey placed 4th with a new personal record with a time of 1:55.81.
As for the Women's 800 Meter run, Hekkanen won with a time of 2:18.52 and Frieda Cedillo placed 6th with a time of 2:28.39.
 Eric Jackson, Oliver Chang, Luke Holland, and Casey Orton all did an outstanding job in the Men's 5000 Meter run. Jackson placed 1st with a time of 14:55.94, Chang placed 2nd in 15:06.22, Holland placed 3rd with a new personal record of 15:14.85, and Orton was 4th in 15:38.95. For the Women's 5000 Meter run, Riley Martel-Phillips placed 1st with a time of 18:12.02 and Helena Janku placed 2nd with a time of 18.47.25. Lindsay Rule was 6th with a time of 19:48.54 and Monica Fonseca placed 8th with a time of 20:07.50.
Jumps/Throws
In the Women's High Jump, Isha Kasanagottu placed 5th with a new personal record of 1.36m. Shea Wissler cleared 1.84m for 4th place and Tetsuo Eng got a new personal record of 1.81m placing 5th in the Men's High Jump.

As for the Women's Discus Throw, Porter placed 4th getting 28.77m and Wissler placed 7th in the Men's Discus, getting 37.03m.

In the Men's Javelin, Koesel got a new personal record and placed 7th getting 37.64m. Solomua placed 3rd with 18.95m and Whitney Porter placed 6th getting 16. 85m in the Women's Javelin Throw, both receiving new personal records.

In the Women's Triple Jump, Sarao set a new personal record and placed 6th with 9.94m and Alex Kaplan placed 8th with 9.86m.
