
Banana Slugs Shine with 11 Podium Finishes on Day One of C2C Championships

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The UC Santa Cruz men's and women's track and field teams recorded 11 podium finishes on Day One of the Coast-to-Coast Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon. The Banana Slugs earned victories in both men's and women's long jump, men's and women's pole vault, as well as the women's steeplechase to highlight the day. The women's team sits in second place overall with 61 points, just seven behind CNU, while the men are in third place with 44 behinds behind CNU (77) and Salisbury (57).

- 3000m Steeplechase: Fiona Wolf led the way for UCSC, storming to the finish line in 11:19.69 to take home gold, setting a personal best in the process while Cherly Chuang and Emma Wirz took third and fourth with times of 11:38.48 and 11:41.91.
- 100 Meter Hurdles (Prelim): Nia Kim was the standout performer, earning the top seed with a meet record time of 14.36 seconds (No. 15 in NCAA DIII) while Olivia Marino earned a spot in the final with a 16.08s race. Eliza Zheng took ninth overall with a time of 16.83 seconds.
- 100 Meter (Prelims): Camille Anneet earned a spot in tomorrow's final after crossing the line in 12.66 seconds, the fifth fastest time on the day.
- 10k: Helena Janku earned a second place finish after turning in a 37:01.12 to bring home silver while Ryanne Reynolds took fifth place in 39:07.04.
- Pole Vault: Allyson Petersen took home gold in the pole vault with a 3.08m clearance, the only jumper in the field to clear over 10ft.
- Shot Put: Olly Gordon made her C2C Track and Field debut in style, earning a silver medal with a 10.97m throw while Semalu Hernandez took ninth with a 9.77m throw.
- Long Jump: Nia Kim turned in the 11th best jump in the country to win long jumping, recording a 5.77m effort for the gold. Olivia Marino took sixth overall with a 5.42m jump.
- Hammer: Kailey Leba took fifth place overall with a personal best throw of 36.87m.

- 3000m Steeplechase: Drew Mysliwiec led the way for UC Santa Cruz in the steeplechase, crossing the line in 9:37.52 to take third while Alex Wille took fifth in 9:52.97.
- 110 Meter Hurdles (Prelim): The trio of Shriyan Manjrekar, Erik Dodge, and Evan Hofstetter took 11th, 12th, and 15th with times of 16.18s, 16.28s, and 16.92s.
- 100 Meter (Prelims): Arthur Gainant won his heat with a time of 10.83 seconds to earn a spot in tomorrow's championship final.
- 10k: Camden Jaureguy took fourth place overall with a time of 32:16.00 while Diego Vizcarra crossed in 32:19.20 to take sixth.
- Pole Vault: Erik Dodge won the pole vault, making first attempt clearances at 4.16m, 4.26m and 4.36m to win gold while Evan Hofstetter tied for third with a 4.06m jump.
- Long Jump: Evan Hofstetter turned in a personal best jump of 7.17m to win the long jump with Oliver Berkowitz taking third with a personal best jump of 6.90m. Jack Richards took eighth with a 6.11m jump.
