WIssler school record highlights last day at Azusa Last Chance

AZUSA, CA- The UC Santa Cruz Track and Field team did an outstanding job Saturday at the Azusa Pacific Franson Last Chance Meet.

For the Men's Decathlon Shea Wissler got a new school record, placing 3rd with a two-day score of 6,662 points. The Senior from Torrance finished the ten events with a PR of 4:44.06 in the 1500m, giving him 655 points to take the record.

The prior school record for the Men's Decathlon was in 2021 from Conrad Pereira with 6,635 points. Pereira set his record at that year's NCAA Championships. Now Wissler will join Pereira and becomes just the second male Banana Slug to compete for an Outdoor Title.

Many of the Banana Slugs got new personal records, including:

Rowan Davis achieved new PRs in the Men's 200 Meter Dash with a time of 23.38 and in the Men's 400 Meter Dash with a time of 51.16.
Ethan Bizzack, Jack Kibort, and Cole Pena excelled in the Men's 200 Meter Dash. Bizzack received a time of 22.38, Kibort got a wind-aided time of 22.14, and Pena got a time of 24.13.
Sage Simms received a new personal record in the Women's 1500 Meter Run with a time of 4:56.47
Riley Martel-Phillips did a fantastic job in the Women's 1500 Meter Run with a time of 4:40.85.
Ash Baudin placed 4th place in the Women's 3000 Steeplechase with a time of 11:02.03.
