Career bests abound for Track and Field in Stanislaus

TURLOCK, CA- It was a good day for UC Santa Cruz at the Stanislaus State Invitational and Multis. Chloe Solomua, the school record holder in the 110m Hurdles, set the school record in the Heptathlon with a score of 3,768. Â She jumped 4.60m (15ft 1 in) in the Long Jump and competed well in her first-ever 800m and Javelin.
For the men, Shea Wissler finished top of his Decathlon section with 6,495 points. That was a personal record by 452 points and is the second-highest total in school history. The highlight was a PR in the 110 Hurdles in 15.62 to open Friday. It was the second-fastest time in school history. The score put Wissler atop all competitors in Division III this season, putting him in great shape for the NCAA Championships in seven weeks.

NCAA Track and Field Championships Drew Koesel finished his first career Decathlon with 4,764 points, scoring 2115 points on day two. He had a PR of 16.88 in the 110 Hurdles and had his first-ever attempts in the Discus, Pole Vault, Javelin and 1,500m to close the day.
It was also the first day for the Banana Slugs at the Stanislaus State Invitational Track and Field meet, which consisted of all the throwing events for Men and Women. Whitney Porter held the fort down for the Slugs by contributing greatly to the competition. Only being able to do the Hammer Throw for outdoor meets, this was Porter's first time doing the Women's Hammer Throw, placing 20th with 20.57m (67ft 6in). She placed 14th in the Women's Shot Put with a toss of 8.90m (29ft 2.50in.) and achieved a new personal record in the Women's Discus with 27.90m (91ft 6in), her prior record being 24.85m.
The Stanislaus State Invitational Track and Field meet will continue tomorrow with track events and the rest of the field events.
