Interim Coach Michael Napoli was named the Coast-To-Coast Coach of the Year as announced by the Conference on Thursday.
It's the first time in the storied history of the men's tennis program a coach was named Conference Coach of the Year, with the Banana Slugs being an Independent until joining the league three seasons ago. A former Head Coach and Assistant at UC Santa Cruz, Napoli took over mid-season as James Soper stepped back from his duties, and helped navigate the Banana Slugs to the top seed in the Conference Tournament after one of the toughest schedules in the country and constant rescheduling due to weather.
Andrew Tjoa was named C2C Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The double major in Psychology and Computer Science was the only Banana Slug to play every singles and doubles match this Spring.
Two Banana Slugs were named All-C2C in singles. Sam Hall was named to the First Team and Aziz Albayouk was named to the Second Team. Albayouk went 5-0 in dual matches playing the last half of the season, and earned Conference Player of the Week after clinching the winning point at Redlands on March 28th.
Tjoa and partner Lucas Chen were named First Team Doubles for the second year in a row, while Hall and his partner Andre Mardirossian were named Second Team after a team-best 7-3 doublesrecord in the Spring.
