Smekalina and Stoner finish Ojai tournament in doubles quarterfinals

OJAI - In the final oncourt action of the season, UC Santa Cruz's doubles tandem of Vera Smekalina and Claire Stoner fell in the Quarterfinals of the Ojai Valley Tournament.
The only Banana Slug duo to advance out of Thursday's first round, Smekalina and Stoner lost to Pomona-Pitzer's Emily Chen and Joy Kim in straight sets Friday morning.
"We competed well but were outplayed by tougher opponents," said head coach Amy Jensen of the team's weekend in southern California.
"After playing this prestigious event, our Slugs are excited to work harder & take this program to another level next year."
