SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday and Sunday, falling to Cal Lutheran 4-3 before falling to No. 3 University of Chicago 6-1. The Banana Slugs will be back in action on March 23 with a match at Cabrillo College.

UCSC 3, CLU 4
Doubles:

Meleja Horelick and Chloe Khachadourian earned a 6-1 victory on court two to start the day.
Adeline Lai and Brooklyn Walker fell at No. 3 6-3 but Chloe Wu and Lucy Yung earned the 6-3 victory at court one to seal the doubles point.

Singles:

Adeline Lai fell 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 6 spot with Emily Belezzuoli dropping her match at No. 5 6-3, 6-0.
Chloe Wu earned a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 1 spot while Meleja Horelick fell 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4.
Lucy Yung was able to earn the 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 victory at No. 2 to tie the match at 3-3 but Chloe Khachadourian fell 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3, giving CLU the narrow 4-3 win.

Doubles:

The Slugs fell 6-1 on court 3 with Callie Tzab and Emily Belezzuoli falling 6-1 before Chloe Wu and Lucy Yung dropped their match at No. 1 6-2.
Meleja Horelick and Chloe Khachadourian fell 6-0 as the Maroons earned the clean sweep for the doubles point.

Singles:

Emily Belezzuoli fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 before Callie Tzab dropped her match 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5.
Chloe Khachadourian fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 before Chloe Wu dropped her match 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 spot.
Meleja Horelick dropped her match 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4.
Lucy Yung had the most exciting match of the weekend, falling 6-4 in set win before battling back to take set two 7-5. Yung then earned a 10-7 victory in a match tiebreaker to earn the Slugs lone point in a top five match up.
