Appeared in 93 sets as a middle for UCSC…Recorded 110 total kills, 52 digs, and 21 service aces…Season-high 9 kills versus Simpson University…Secured a spot in Banana Slug career top 5 with 264 total blocks and also top 5 in hitting percentage with 0.379…Also in the career top 10 with 54 aces.
- 2024:
- Played 94 sets recording 107 kills, 11 assists, 7 aces, 53 digs, and 83 total blocks. Had a season high 10 blocks versus Marymount (VA.) also recording 3 kills, 1 assist, and 1 ace.Â
- 2023:
- Played 20 matches with 87 kills, 9 service aces, team-leading 50 total blocks, and 22 digs. Season-high of 12 kills on February 18th versus Illinois Tech. Had seven total blocks on April 2nd at Dominican.
- 2022:Â
- 108 kills 51 blocks and 15 aces in 20 matches. Season-high eight block assists March 11 against Baldwin-Wallace. Had 11 kills on 16 attacks in sweep at Wisconsin Lutheran on Feb. 6th.
- Finished with 38 kills, 6 aces and 18 block assists in his freshman year of 2021. Had season-highs of 11 kills and 8 blocks in 5-set classic win against MSOE on March 28. Hit .383 over seven matches.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Played for Mountain View High School. High School Team MVP, High School First Team All-League, Northern California High Performance MVP. 5th at Nationals twice with Mountain View Volleyball Club (MVVC).
PERSONAL: Son of Dennis and Cynthia Makishima. One brother: Aaron. Says his dad has been the most influential person "as he has pushed my to always work diligently and he helped me the most with volleyball."
Enjoys being outdoors, playing golf, and hanging out with friends. Picked UCSC for the beautiful campus, a very welcoming student body, and the campus only a few minutes away from the beach.
