
Kyle Ownbey Named AVCA Division III All-American For Second Straight Season

SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – Just one week after being named an AVCA Division III All-Region honoree, Kyle Ownbey was named to the AVCA Division III Men's Volleyball All-American team with Honorable Mention honors. This is the second team the junior middle blocker has earn an All-American honor and comes after another standout season with the Banana Slugs.

Kyle Ownbey was second on the team with 184 kills on the year, averaging 2.04 kills per set but the junior was by far the standout with a .462 hitting percentage on the season. Ownbey now holds a career hitting percentage of .481%, proving to be one of the program's most efficient attackers. Ownbey had just 31 errors on the year with 331 attacks through 23 matches and 90 sets played. Ownbey logged 55 total blocks during the 2026 campaign with 22 solos and 33 assists, bringing his career total to 176 total blocks.

Ownbey had strong showings all year including six total blocks against Mount Union, 16 kills against Aurora, and four aces against Lakeland. Ownbey's season featured eight contests with over 10 kills. Additionally, Ownbey logged at least one total block in 22 out of 23 matches this year.
