Slugs Compete at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic

SAN FRANCISCO, Ca. – UC Santa Cruz Men and Women's track teams competed at the 17th edition of the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on April 3-4 hosted at San Francisco State University. The distance runners of UC Santa Cruz put on impressive performances in their events, C2C DIII Indoor Track honoree for Scholar Athlete of the year Helena Janku placed 9th in her heat, and 48th overall of the women's 5000 meter running a 17:09.75. Other notable performances include Alex Wille placing 6th in his heat of 3000 meter steeplechase, and Fiona Wolf placing 5th in her heat of the 3000 meter steeplechase. C2C Men's Scholar Athlete of the Year Luke Holland also came in 5th overall in the 10k with a time of 30 minutes and C2C Women's DIII Indoor Track Athlete of the Year Elena Stanciu placed 7th overall in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:27.06.
