
Women's Track and Field Claims Second Straight C2C Title, Men Finish in Third

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The UC Santa Cruz women's track and field team was victorious at the Coast-to-Coast Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend. The Slugs are now back-to-back champions of the C2C conference. The UC Santa Cruz men's track and field team also earned third place at the event. The Slugs claimed seven event titles total on the weekend. The Banana Slugs also had 25 podium finishes on Saturday alone.Â
Women's Highlights:

4x100m: The Slugs squad of Nia Kim, Mae Stafford, Olivia Marino, and Camille Anneet earned fourth place with a time of 49.18.Â

1500m: Elena Stanciu earned a gold medal in the event with a time of 4:40.52. The Slugs filled the podium with Jordan Robinson's 4:44.45, earning second place, and Madelyn Basinet's personal best 4:45.31, good enough for third. Lucia Muthu picked up fifth with a time of 4:47.03, which was a personal best. Meeran Gill rounded things out for the slugs with a 4:50.89, which earned her seventh place.Â

100m Hurdles: Nia Kim once again shone in the hurdles this time with a personal best time of 14.19, the twelfth best time in Division Three. This was more than enough for a gold medal in the event.

400m: Mae Stafford picked up fourth place with a personal best time of 59.80.

100m: With a season best time of 12.52, Camille Anneet landed at firth place.

800m: Elena Stanciu picked up her second gold medal of the day with a time of 2:16.80. Following her was Melody Chiu, who landed in third place with a season best 2:20.20. Jordan Robinson got fourth with a time of 2:23.80, and Madelyn Basinet got fifth with a time of 2:24.68. Lastly, Lucia Muthu picked up ninth with a 2:28.77.

400m Hurdles: With a second-place finish, Nia Kim crossed the line with a time of 1:05.83. Fiona Wolf picked up fourth place with a personal best 1:10.46, and Cheryl Chuang also has a personal best 1:11.89, which was good for sixth.Â

200m: Camille Anneet crossed the line with a time of 26.26, which earned her fourth place.

5000m: Helena Janku led the Slugs with a fourth-place performance and a time of 18.24.68. Sydney Boyd earned sixth place with a time of 18:37.92, and Meeran Gill followed behind her with a personal best 18:46.51 for seventh place. Ryanne Reynolds rounded things off for the Slugs with a time of 18:50.55 and ninth place.Â

4x400m: The Slugs earned second place with a season-best performance from Camille Anneet, Lucia Muthu, Mae Stafford, and Melody Chiu.Â

Discus: Semalu Hernandez had a podium finish with a distance of 32.90, which was good enough for third place.Â

High Jump: Nia Kim earned yet another gold medal with a High Jump of 1.57m. It was a close contest with Eliza Zheng also reaching 1.57m on her third attempt, which granted her third place. Olivia Marino picked up fifth place, clearing 1.49m.Â

Javelin Throw: Olly Gordon won first place with a throw of 33.60m. Kailey Leba picked up the silver medal with a throw of 31.20m.

Triple Jump: Regan Mullay earned sixth place with a distance of 10.32m

4x100m: The Banana Slugs earned second place with a season best 43.53 from Arthur Gainant, Jack Richards, Shriyan Manjrekar, and Erik Dodge.

1500m: Graeme Maclean reached the podium with a time of 3:54.49 and a third-place finish. Gilbert Fillat finished with a personal best of 3:59.31, earning him fifth place. Viktor Kieturakis picked up sixth with a time of 3:59.34, and Desi Herrerias earned seventh with a personal best of 3:59.37.

400m: Evan Hoffsetter picked up silver with a time of 48.42. Shiv Mohan's 49.54 was good enough for fifth.

100m: Arthur Gainant ran a 10.83, which earned him second place.Â

800m: Caeden Gardner had a gold medal performance, his time of 1;53.04 was a season best and the sixty-fourth best time in Division Three. Sean Conely also reached the podium with a third-place time of 1:53.74. Matthew Riffle ran a personal best 1:54.38 for fifth place. Lastly, Viktor Kieturakis got twelfth with a time of 2:01.41.

400m Hurdles: Shriyan Manjrekar ran a personal best 56.67 to squeeze into third place.

200m: Arthur Gainant ran a 21.42, which was good for third place and twenty-ninth rank in Division Three.

5000m: Luke Holland delivered a gold medal performance, crossing the finish line in 14:50.59. Andrew Mysliwiec followed behind with a second-place finish and a personal best of 15:02.42. Camden Juareguy finished fifth with a time of 15;16.41. Lastly, Diego Vizcarra got twelfth with a time of 15:37.16

4x400m: The Slugs finished in second place. Evan Hofsetter, Sean Conley, Caeden Gardner, and Levi Laden set a season-best time of 3:22.02.Â

High Jump: Oliver Berkowitz earned third place, clearing 1.85m.

Discus: Evan Hofsetter landed in tenth place with a throw of 35.67m

Triple Jump: Jack Richards and Oliver Berkowitz landed in ninth and tenth place, respectively. They jumped 11.85m and 11.17m
