COPPELL, Tx - The UC Santa Cruz men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Hardin Simmons University on Friday evening. Despite a strong start in doubles, the UCSC Banana Slugs dropped a 5-2 match to the UMHB Crusaders on Saturday to conclude the weekend.

UC Santa Cruz 2, Hardin-Simmons 5
Doubles:

Hari Raghavan and Peter Liang secured the first win of the day in spot No. 3, winning a dominant 6-1 set.
Doubles No. 1 Benjamin Wang and Rocco Melendez fell to their opponent 6-4 after trying to come back from a rough start.
Gavin Sonntag and Caden Wong took their opponents to tiebreaker and won 7-6 in the No. 2 doubles spot, securing the doubles point for UCSC.

Singles:

Singles No. 5 Caden Wong fell to his opponent 6-2, 6-4 and was closely followed by Rocco Melendez in the No. 3 spot who ended 6-4, 6-2.
No. 6 Peter Liang fell to his opponent 6-1, 6-4 while Ben Wang in the No. 1 spot secured the only point for UCSC in singles, with a 6-3, 6-4 match.
Hari Raghavan fell in the No. 4 spot 6-2, 6-4 and Gavin Sonntag ended the day for UCSC in the No. 2 spot not going quietly with a 6-3, 7-6, 7-5 match but eventually falling to his opponent.

Doubles:

Rocco Melendez and Benjamin Wang set the tone early in the No. 1 spot, securing a 6-3 victory to give the Slugs an initial boost.

Doubles No. 2 Gavin Sontag and Caden Wong found themselves falling behind early, eventually dropping their match 6-3.

In the No. 3 spot, Hari Raghavan and Peter Liang struggled to find their rhythm, falling 6-2 as the Crusaders clinched the doubles point.

Singles:

Benjamin Wang faced a tough test at the No. 1 singles spot, dropping his match 6-1, 6-2 as his opponent took control early.
Gavin Sontag provided a spark in the No. 2 spot, putting down a 6-3, 6-2 win in dominating fashion to put a point on the board for UCSC.
Carrying the momentum into the No. 3 spot was Rocco Melendez, who dismantled his opponent 6-0, 6-3, not allowing the Crusaders to pull ahead in the middle of the lineup.
At No. 4 singles, Hari Raghavan battled through a tight first set but was unable to hold on, finishing 7-5, 6-3.
Caden Wong fell in the No. 5 spot 6-2, 6-2, as UMHB continued to build their lead through the bottom half of the order.
No. 6 Peter Liang anchored the team in a marathon match, ultimately falling in a third-set tiebreaker 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 to seal the fate for the Banana Slugs.
