
Nia Kim Breaks 3500 Points in Pentathlon, Jumps to No. 7 in the Country at Wartburg Qualifier

WAVERLY, Ia. – First year Nia Kim continued to rewrite the record books, breaking the program pentathlon record at the Wartburg Qualifier meet in Iowa on Friday afternoon. Kim came into the weekend ranked 19th in the country, needing an overall score improvement to better her chances for a spot in the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships and the first year delivered, surging back into the top 10 after her performance at Wartburg.

Competing in the five event, one day competition, Kim turned in an 8.88 second 60m hurdle race to start the day, earning 935 points in the event. Kim cleared 1.56m in high jump to bring in 689 points before throwing 9.61m in shot put for 504 points. Kim turned in the field's best jump of the day in long jump, jumping 5.51m for 703 points, bringing her point total to 2831 overall. Entering the last event, Kim had a personal best time of 2:32.90 in the 800m and would need to turn a sub 2:30 to give herself the best chance of qualifying for NCAAs. Kim delivered, dropping over three seconds, crossing the line in 2:29.18 with a final lap of 37.59s, securing another 703 points. Kim's 800m brought her over the 3500 threshold, ranking her No. 7 in the country with 3,534 points overall.
