
Records Fall at Wolf Pack Classic

RENO, NV — The UC Santa Cruz men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Wolf Pack Classic hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno at the Biggest Little City Indoor Track on February 5-7, setting multiple program records and posting nationally-ranked performances.
Women's Results:
- Pentathlon: Nia Kim was the standout performer, setting a program record in the pentathlon with 3439 points, ranking in the top ten nationally in the event. This was Kim's collegiate debut and turned heads as the first year recorded the No. 9 mark in the country. Kim's pentathlon featured the 19th best 60m hurdle race in the country, running an 8.88 before jumping 1.59m in high jump. Kim later threw 9.07m in shot put before breaking the program record in long jump with a 5.34m jump. Kim closed out the day with a 2:32.90 in the 800m.
- Triple Jump: Celine Castaneda set a program record with a mark of 10.93m (35' 10.5). Regan Mulloy finished right behind with a mark of 10.83m (35' 6.5), breaking the previous program record as well.
- 60m Hurdles: Olivia Marino finished 33rd in the preliminaries with a time of 9.72 seconds.
- Long Jump: Nia Kim set a program record in the event. Olivia Marino posted a mark of 4.92m (16' 1.75).
- 60m Dash: Camille Anneet led the Banana Slugs with a preliminary time of 8.18 seconds. Skyla Jones (8.20) and Celine Castaneda (8.25) also competed. Kamara Desai had a false start.
- 200m: Camille Anneet led UCSC with a time of 26.73 seconds, setting a program record with the first sub 27 second time in program history. Kamara Desai (27.11) and Skyla Jones (27.16) also posted strong times.
- 400m Dash: Sandrine Martinez led UCSC with a time of 1:02.68. Mae Stafford (1:02.96), Varsha Aravindhan (1:03.21), and Esther Kim (1:06.17) also competed.
- 800m: Melody Chiu finished with a time of 2:24.26.
- High Jump B-Pit: Eliza Zheng cleared 1.58m (5' 2.25). Regan Mulloy cleared 1.53m (5' 0.25).
- High Jump A-Pit: Celine Castaneda cleared 1.53m (5' 0.25).
- Pole Vault B-Pit: Allyson Petersen cleared 2.96m (9' 8.5)
Men's Results
- Heptathlon: Evan Hofstetter set a program record with 4955 points, finishing in the top ten nationally in the event. Hoftstetter started the day with a 6.92 second 60m race before jumping 6.80m in the long jump, winning both events in the field. Hofstetter later threw 10.16m before closing out the day with a 1.86m jump in high jump. Hoftstetter performed well on day two, running a 9.28 second 60m hurdle race before jumping 3.60m in pole vault. Hofstetter soared through the 1000m, winning the race in 2:26.79. Erik Dodge also competed with 4027 points. Dodge recorded six personal bests out the seven events, going 7.40s, 5.69m, 7.75m, 1.53m, 8.95s, 4.30m, and 3:13.43 across the two day competition.
- 60m Dash: Arthur Gainant led the Banana Slugs with a time of 6.94 seconds in the preliminaries. Shiv Mohan (7.23) and Oliver Berkowitz (7.32) also competed.
- 200m: Arthur Gainant finished 22nd overall with a time of 22.39 seconds. Ricky Murray (23.17) also competed. Shriyan Manjrekar was disqualified.
- 400m Dash: Matthew Riffle finished 22nd with a time of 52.80 seconds.
- 60m Hurdles: Ricky Murray finished fifth in the preliminaries with a time of 8.93 seconds. Shriyan Manjrekar (9.39) also competed.
- High Jump: Tetsuo Eng cleared 1.80m (5' 10.75) to finish 11th. Jack Richards cleared 1.75m (5' 8.75) to finish 14th.
- Long Jump: Oliver Berkowitz led the team with a mark of 6.27m (20' 7) to finish 25th. Tetsuo Eng (6.15m, 20' 2.25) finished 29th and Jack Richards (6.08m, 19' 11.5) finished 30th.
