
Banana Slugs Wrap up C2C Indoor Championships with Second and Third Place Team Finishes

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The UC Santa Cruz men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their weekend at the 2026 Coast-to-Coast Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend. The Banana Slugs earned a runner up finish on the women's side while the men earned a third place finish. On the women's side, the team finished with 129.33 points with CNU finishing in first with 158.33 while the men earned 135 points for their third place finish.

Women's Results
60 Meters: Kamara Desai took sixth place with a time of 8.09 seconds.
200 Meters: Camille Aneet and Desai took eighth and ninth in 27.59s and 27.82s.
400 Meters: Anneet took fifth overall with a time of 1:02.40.
800 Meters: The Banana Slugs had a strong showing in the 800m with Holly Alchin winning in 2:22.37 while Elana Stanciu and Melody Chiu took fourth and fifth in 2:23.11 and 2:23.39.
Mile: Stanciu later picked up the victory in the mile, running a 5:03.91 while Madelyn Basinet and Jordan Robinson took fourth and fifth in 5:12.77 and 5:26.66.
3000 Meters: Helena Janku took second overall, running a 10:19.62 for the gold medal while Fiona Wolf and Sydney Boyd took fifth and sixth in 10:42.33 and 10:43.22.
5000 Meters: Janku finished with another silver medal in the 5k, running 17:49.98 while Sydney Boyd, Ryanne Reynolds, and Emma Wirz went 4-5-6 in 18:44.45, 18:59.62, and 19:01.48.
60 Hurdles: Nia Kim dropped the 15th fastest time in the country, running an 8.78 to take first overall with Olivia Marino running 9.48 to take fifth.
4 x 400 Relay: In the 4 x 400 meter relay, Mae Stafford, Camille Anneet, Holly Alchin, Nia Kim combined for a time of 4:07.88 to take second.
Distance Medley Relay: The DMR team of Holly Alchin, Mae Stafford, Melody Chiu, Fiona Wolf combined for a time of 12:42.17 to earn the gold medal.
High Jump: Nia Kim earned a runner up finish in the high jump, clearing 1.54m, making first attempt clearances the whole way through while Eliza Zheng took third after a third attempt make over 1.54m. Celine Castaneda took fourth with a 1.51m jump.
Pole Vault: Allyson Petersen had a standout performance, earning the gold medal after clearing 2.99m on her second attempt.
Long Jump: Nia Kim took fourth to lead the Slugs in long jump with a 5.42m jump with Olivia Marino taking sixth with a 5.36m jump.
Triple Jump: Regan Mulloy had a strong showing, becoming the first Banana Slug to jump over 11m, taking third with an 11.03m jump.
Shot Put: Nia Kim took eighth in shot out with an 8.82m throw.

60 Meters: Arthur Gainant took second place overall in the 60m, running a 6.95 for the silver medal.
200 Meters: Gainant brough home another medal, running 22.69 in the 200m to take third.
400 Meters: Evan Hoftstetter earned a gold medal in the 400m, crossing the line in 49.97s with Levi Laden taking fourth in 50.90s.
800 Meters: The Banana Slugs went 1-3-6-8 in the 800m with Caeden Gardner earning the victory in 1:54.31 while Sean Conley took third in 1:55.64.
Mile: In the mile, Graema Maclean outleaned Viktor Kieturakis at the line with the duo going 1-2 in 4:19.36 and 4:19.38.
3000 Meters: Luke Holland took home gold in the 3k with a time of 8:34.06 while Camden Jaureguy took third in 8:47.42.
60 Hurdles: Erik Dodge and Ricky Murray took seventh and eighth in the 60m hurdles, running 9.04s and 9.25s.
4 x 400 Relay: The relay team of Evan Hofstetter, Taran Grewal, Sean Conley, Caeden Gardner took second place with a time of 3:25.93.
Distance Medley Relay: The DMR team of Sean Conley, Ricky Murray, Taran Grewal, Gavin Hahn combined for a time of 10:30.58 took second overall.
High Jump: Tetsuo Eng highlight UCSC's efforts in the high jump, clearing 1.84m on his second attempt to take second.
Pole Vault: Erik Dodge took second place in the pole vault, clearing 4.36m on his first attempt.
Long Jump: Evan Hofstetter joined the seven meter club, jumping 7.01m to take second place overall.
Triple Jump: Tetsuo Eng took 8th in the triple jump with a 12.32m jump.
Shot Put: Chris Andrews took 7th with a 13.11m throw.
4800 Meters: Luke Holland won the 4800m, crossing the line in 14:21.93.
