Men's and Women's Track and Field Claim 2025 C2C Championship Titles

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The UC Santa Cruz men's and women's track and field teams both claimed the 2025 C2C Outdoor Track and Field Championship titles with the women claiming their program's first ever Championship while the men completed their first ever Triple Crown following a 2024 C2C Cross Country Title, a 2025 C2C Indoor Track and Field Title, and now the 2025 C2C Outdoor Track and Field Title. On the men's side, the Banana Slugs earned 218 points for a 21 point victory over Salisbury while the women turned in 206 points for a 15 point victory over Christopher Newport. UC Santa Cruz earned a total of nine individual Championships on the day with Luke Holland earning C2C Track Athlete of the Year honors while Evan Hofstetter earned C2C Field Athlete of the Year honors.

Men's Results
The Banana Slugs started the day with a third and fourth place finish from Camden Hebert and Viktor Kieturakis in the 3k steeplechase with times of 9:47.92 and 9:50.34. In the 1500m, Eric Anderson led the charge with his first victory of the day, crossing the line in 3:53.50 while Graeme Maclean took second in 3:56.18. In the 110m hurdles, Sotirios Kougiouris earned the Title with a time of 15.52 seconds with Erik Dodge taking third in 15.69s. In the 200m, Levi Laden took second with a time of 21.79s after earning the 400m crown with a program record time of 47.86 seconds earlier in the day. Soujit Ing came away with a runner up finish in the 400m hurdles after crossing the line in 56.78 seconds.
Eric Anderson earned his second victory of the day in the 800m, crossing the line in 1:53.56 with Aaron Hillberg taking third in 1:54.70. In the 5k, Luke Holland did the heavy lifting, leading the race for much of the competition but ultimately took second with a time of 15:15.98 while Benthan Vu took third in 15:33.32. Tetsuo Eng took second in the high jump with a 1.85m clearance and later took fourth in triple jump (13.30m) behind Evan Hofstetter who took third with a jump of 13.40m. The Banana Slugs set a new program record in the 4x400m relay to close out their Championship run as Shiv Mohan, Aaron Hillberg, Soujit Ing, and Evan Hofstetter combined for a time of 3:19.32.

Women's Results
Kenzie Seymour kicked off the action for UC Santa Cruz on Saturday morning, winning the 3k steeplechase in 11:42.43 with Emma Wirz, Sofia Placias, and Cheryl Chuang taking second through fourth in 11:56.03, 11:56.78, and 11:59.75. Seymour later took second in the 5k with a time of 18:39.07 with Jordan Baden taking third in 19:07.68 while Sydney Boyd and Coralie Norenberg took fourth and sixth in 19:08.30 and 19:41.86.
The Banana Slugs saw Amaya Cummins take third in the 100m with a time of 12.08 seconds with Camille Anneet following closely behind in 12.30s with the pair both setting lifetime personal bests. Isha Kasanagottu ran a lifetime PR of 15.76s in the 100m hurdles to take third overall. Cummins later took fifth in the 200m with a time of 25.60s with Anneet in sixth at 25.90s. Caitlin Donovan ran a stellar 400m to come away with the victory after crossing the line in 58.06 seconds. The Banana Slugs picked up 12 points in the 400m hurdles as Sofia Placias, Kasanagottu, and Cheryl Chuang took third, fourth, and fifth with times of 1:10.13, 1:12.45, and 1:12.78.
In the 800m, Elena Stanciu led the way with a 2:17.46 to pick up the victory. Additionally, Stanciu won the 1500min 4:42.34 with the Banana Slugs taking first through fourth with Lucia Muthu, Sara Teitelbaum, and Jordan Baden following closely behind in 4:43.04, 4:44.94, and 4:46.84.
In discus, Whitney Porter threw 30.99m to take fifth place. Celine Castaneda won the high jump with a 1.57m jump while Eliza Zheng took third after clearing 1.54m. Isha Kasanagottu also performed well with a fourth place finish, clearing 1.48m. Castaneda later took fourth in triple jump with a 10.94m jump. Kailey Leba earned a runner up finish in the javelin after throwing 30.14m. The Banana Slugs took second in the 4x100m relay with Anneet, Cummins, Kasanagottu, and Donovan combining for a time of 48.70 seconds. UCSC closed out the meet with a program record in the 4x400m relay, taking second overall as Donovan, Mae Stafford, Anneet, and Sara Teitelbaum combined for a time of 4:02.05 to cap off their program's first ever C2C Outdoor Track and Field Championship Title.
