
Donovan, Jackson improve school records at Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Banana Slugs produced strong results on day two of Hornet Invite, competing closely against highly ranked D1 and D2 schools.

Eric Jackson placed 2nd in his section of the Men's 1500m event with a time of 3:50.08, surpassing D1 schools Stanford and Cal, and placing 4th overall. It was two seconds better than his prior school record and the best time for a Division III runner this year.
Levi Laden won his section of the Men's 400m event with a time of 49.49. Evan Hofstetter also won his section in the 400m event with a time of 49.46. Holden Spencer won his section of the Men's 800m with a time of 1:53.61, placing 6th overall in the whole event. Soujit Ing won his section of the Men's 400m hurdles event with a time of 59.39, the only person in his section to finish in sub-1 minute. Sotirios Kougiouris also placed 4th in his section of the Men's 110m hurdles with a time of 16.17, while his teammate Erik Dodge placed 2nd in his section with a time of 16.42.

On the women's side, Caitlin Donovan placed 2nd in her section of the 400m event with a time of 59.34, 0.65 better than her PR and a new school record. Mae Stafford and Sophie Jimenez went 1st and 2nd in section 8 of the 400m with times 1:01.14 and 1:02.25. Frieda Cedillo placed 2nd in her section for the Women's 800m event with a time of 2:22.82. Alicia Dasalla and Mackenzie Jones went 2nd and 3rd in section 5 of the Women's 400m hurdles event. Jones and Isha Kasanagottu both placed 4th in their respective sections of the Women's 100m hurdles, with times of 17.05 (Jones) and 17.87 (Kasanagottu). Helena Janku and Elena Stanciu went 3rd and 4th in section 4 of the Women's 1500m event in 4:44.19 and 4:44.64 respectively.

The Banana Slugs ended the day with 2nd place in section 4 of the Women's 4x400m, with Donovan, Amaya Cummins, Stafford, and Jimenez finishing with a time of 4:06.08. The men also pulled away with 2nd place in section 3 of the Men's 4x400m, with Rowan Davis, Laden, Aaron Hillberg, and Hofstetter finishing with a time of 3:23.08.
