
Isha Kasanagottu, Aditi Kamble and Amaya Cummins turned in amazing times Saturday at George Fox
Track and Field opens indoor season in Oregon

NEWBERG, OR—UC Santa Cruz opened the 2024 indoor track season at the George Fox Invite. With several Northwest Division II and Division III schools present, the youthful Banana Slug squad had a great start in their first competition.

Amaya Cummins finished the women's 60m dash in 7.99 seconds, just 0.01 seconds from her PR and school record. First-years Aditi Kamble, Akira Jones, and Allyson Peterson made their college debuts in the 60M as well. Kamble clocked a time of 8.75 seconds, Jones hit the tape in 8.80, and Petersen crossed in 9.41. Isha Kasanagottu finished the 60m hurdles in a PR of 10.57 seconds.
For the men, standouts include James Contini placing 6th in the 60m dash with a PR of 7.15. Sotirios Kougiouris was sixth in the 60m hurdles in 9.10. In his college debut, Erik Dodge cleared the Pole Vault at 4.15m (13ft, 7.25 in.).
The Banana Slugs take to the track again on Saturday when they make the short trip to Portland for the University of Portland Indoor Meet #2.
