Banana Slugs Take Part in Portland Indoor Meet #2

PORTLAND, OR-- One day after the sprinters and field athletes began their indoor season in Oregon, it was UC Santa Cruz's distance runners who had their first competition at the University of Portland.
Highlights for the men saw Eric Jackson and Eric Anderson go 1-2 in the indoor mile. Jackson set a new school record with a time of 4:12.23 with Anderson coming in 0.26 later with a new PR.
Levi Laden won the 400m in 50.20, followed by Evan Hofstetter in 50.39. Rowan Davis was fourth out of over 20 runners with a time of 51.18. Aaron Hillberg was third in the 800m in 1:57.02.
For the women, Elena Stanciu was runner-up in the women's mile in 5:10.96. Hanna Hekkanen was third in 5:11.43, while Riley Martel-Phillips placed fourth in 5:12.68. Frieda Cedillo had a PR in the 800m of 2:26.05 to place third, while Kenzie Seymour was fourth in her indoor debut with a time of 2:26.52.
Caitlin Donovan, the school record holder in the outdoor 400m, placed seventh in the indoor race in 1:02.08.
The Banana Slugs will travel east for their next meet when they compete at the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Championships in Newport News, Virginia. The championships will take place February 16th-17th.
