SAN FRANCISCO- The Banana Slugs did an outstanding job at the Johnny Mathis Invitational Track and Field Meet, breaking many of their personal records and competing against many great teams!

The Men's Track and Field team placed 1st with 145 points. As for Women's Track and Field, they placed 5th with 67 points.

In the Men's 100-meter dash, Jonathan Stenger placed 6th with a new personal record time of 11.07, the third-fastest in school history. Jack Kibort got two new personal records in the Men's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.30 and in the Men's 200-meter dash with a time of 22.15 placing 4th. Kibort's time in the 100 was the fifth-fastest in school history and the 200m time broke the school record set by Ethan Bizzack at last year's Johnny Mathis.

Tetsuo Eng got new personal records in both the Men's Long Jump and High Jump. For the Long Jump, they placed first with 6.49m (21' 3.5") and for the High Jump, placed second with 1.80m (5' 10.75").

Brett Bailey got two new personal records in the Men's 800-meter and in the 1500-meter runs. In the 800 meter, they got a time of 1:56.88, placing 4th and in the 1500 run they got a time of 3:56.75. Nathaniel Chang also got two new personal records in the Men's 1500-meter and 5000-meter runs. For the 1500 run, they got a time of 4:13.74 and in the 5000 run, they got a time of 16:12.02.

Drew Koesel set new personal records in both the Men's 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles. In the 110 Hurdles, they got a time of 16.44 placing 7th, and in the 400 Hurdles got a time of 59.18. In the Men's 3000 Steeplechase, Camden Hebert, Nick Sciole, and Eduardo Palma each set new personal records. Hebert's time was 9:38.01, Sciole finished in 10:27.10, and Palma got a time of 10:52.21.Â

Casey Orton and Raymond Ingersoll set new personal records in the 1500-meter run. Orton with a time of 3:57.45 and Ingersoll in 3:56.07.

For the women's team, Joceline Ortega-Garcia and Alex Kaplan each set personal records in both the Long Jump and the 100-meter dash. For Ortega, in the 100-meter dash, they got a new PR of 13.76, and the Long Jump got 4.08m (13' 4.75"). For Kaplan, they got a time of 14.14 in the 100-meter dash, and for the Long Jump got 4.25m (13' 11.5").
Caitlin Donovan's new personal record in the Women's 200-meter dash of 26.19 was the third-fastest time in school history.
Sophie Jimenez got two new personal records in both the Women's 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash. In the 200-meters, they got a new PR of 27.98, and in the 400-meter run finished in 1:03.33.

Bella Sarao got two new personal records in the Women's 100 Hurdles and in the Women's Triple Jump. For the Hurdles, they placed 7th and got a time of 17.85, and for the Triple Jump, got 9.51m (31' 2.5") placing 6th.

Kayla Galvez got two new personal records in the Women's 200-meter dash and 400-meter run. In the 200-meter dash, they got a time of 27.32 and in the 400-meter run, they got a time of 1:02.91.

Chloe Solomua got a new PR and broke the school record in the Women's 100-meter Hurdles for the third time this season, placing 1st in 15.01.

Emma Wirz, Cheryl Chuang, and Monica Fonseca all got new personal records in the Women's 3000 Steeplechase. Wirz finished in 11:55.19 placing 5th, Chuang ran 12:14.90 placing 8th, and Fonseca got a time of 12:36.61 placing 10th.
Lindsay Rule and Emma Cadena both got new personal records in the Women's 1500-meter run. Rule got a time of 5:12.84 and Cadena in 5:17.20.

- In the Men's Discus Throw, Shea Wissler got a new PR of 37.13m, third longest ever at UC Santa Cruz.
- Levi Laden ran the Men's 200-meter dash in 22.69.
- In the Men's Long Jump, Nam Nguyen jumped 5.80m (19' 0.5").
- Sotirios Kougiouris finished the Men's 400 Hurdles in a time of 1:00.26.
- Luke Holland and Dylan Cronin both got new personal records in the 5000-meter run, Cronin's new PR is 15:43.89 and Holland's new PR is 15:18.72.
- Jahari Garcia and Marianne Chuang both got two new PRs in the Women's 800-meter run. Garcia with a time of 2:30.14 and Chuang with a time of 2:30.84.
- Isha Kasanagottu placed 9th in the Women's 100-meter Hurdles with a time of 18.17.
- Jenna Borzellino ran the Women's 400-meter run in 1:13.36.
- Alicia Dasalla's new PR in the Women's 400-meter Hurdles of 1:13.57 placed them 8th.
- Whitney Porter set a new personal record in the Women's Discus Throw getting 28.84m (94' 7").
The next Track and Field meet will be on April 21st at San Luis Obispo for the Cal Poly Mustang Invitational, starting at 11:00 AM.
