LONG BEACH - Preparation met opportunity perfectly Friday in Long Beach for three Banana Slug runners.
Unable to compete in the Bryan Clay Invite in Azusa, Eric Jackson traveled down the 605 and set a school record at the Beach Invitational at Jack Rose Stadium.
Jackson won the 10,000 meter race in a time of 30:37.29. Jackson, already the school record holder in the 5,000m and Cross Country 8,000m races, broke the old mark held by Paul Colosi by 0.24 seconds.
Jackson wasn't the only Banana Slug who made great strides in Long Beach. Grad student Oliver Chang set a PR with 32:15.70 to place 11th out of the 30 runners. Right behind him was fellow Grad student Sean Riedel. The defending C2C Conference Champion set a new PR as well with a mark of 32:23.23 to place 12th in the humid conditions.
