CLAREMONT-- In a rematch of their C2C Semifinal last spring, UC Santa Cruz was edged by Christopher Newport 5-4 in their dual match Sunday.
The Banana Slugs (2-6) took a quick 2-1 lead after the doubles. Sam Hall and Andre Mardirossian won at No.2, while Praneet Varade and Ryan Lam took the No. 3 match for the duo's second win this season.
The Captains however rallied to take four of the hard-fought singles matches. Mardirossian closed the match with a tough three-set victory over CNU's Eddy Porsmyr Hansen.
The Banana Slugs have a week off before their next match, a home encounter against Division I Bucknell on March 13th. The contest will take place at the La Madrona Tennis Club.
