Several school records set as Banana Slugs storm Stanford

PALO ALTO, CA- The Banana Slugs Track and Field team competed at the Cardinal Classic track meet on Saturday, March 18th. The Banana Slugs ran at Stanford University for the first time against many great competitors, this being the last Track and Field meet for the winter quarter. The Slugs did an outstanding job of breaking personal records and competing fiercely against many Division 1 Colleges and unattached Olympians.

In the Men's 1500 run, Raymond Ingersoll placed 9th overall with a time of 3:56.48 and Eric Jackson placed 10th with a time of 3:56.90. In the Men's 400 dash, Levi Laden placed 11th with a time of 49.78, setting a new school record. For the Men's 800 meter dash, Eric Anderson has a new personal record placed 3rd with a time of 1:51.18 and put him at the top of the West Region early in the outdoor season. Holden Spencer placed 6th place with a time of 1:54.81 in the Men's 800 meter dash.
 Lastly, Oliver Chang placed 3rd in the Men's 5000 run with a time of 14:56.48.

Ash Bauldin also got a new personal and school record for the outdoor season with a time of 4:36.10 in the Women's 1500 meter. Riley Martel Phillips also got a personal record in the outdoor Women's 1500 meter with a time of 4:38.41. Hanna Hekkanen finished in a time of 4:42.88, Helena Janku crossed in 4:52.11 and Cheryl Chuang crossed in 4:59.81 to all garner PRs and complete the fastest 1500 day in program history.
Chloe Solumua in the Women's 100-meter hurdles got a personal record for their outdoor season with a time of 15.40, placing 12th. For the Women's 400 dash, Caitlin Donovan got a school record for the outdoor season with a time of 1:00.15 placing 19th overall.

The next track and field meet for UC Santa Cruz will be from March 31st to April 1st at the San Francisco State University.
