
Banana Slugs excel at Aggie Open

DAVIS- UC Santa Cruz's Track and Field team competed at the UC Davis Aggie Open meet. The women finished seventh with 21 points and the men received 4th place with 44 points at the Woody Wilson Track.

Running Events
Two amazing runners who greatly helped contribute points in the Women's 200 meter dash. Amaya Cummins a sophomore who placed first place with a time of 26.53 adding 10 points. Fellow sophomore Caitlin Donovan placed second with a time of 26.62 adding 8 points.

As for the Men's 200 meter dash, Ethan Bizzack and Levi Laden did an outstanding job. Bizzack, a senior, got third place with a time of 23.01 adding 8 points for the Slugs. While Laden a First Year placed 4th with a time of 23.07 adding 6 points.

For the Women's 4x400 Relay, the Slugs placed 6th with a time of 4:16.32 with the help of Kayla Galvez, Caitlin Donovan, Caroleene Block, and Ria Saini. As for the Men's 4x400, they were able to place 3rd in the finals with a time of 3:30.48 contributing 8 points; Carson Nagel, Aaron Hillberg, Cole Pena, and Ansh Singh.

Field Events
First Year Whitney Porter contributed greatly to the competition in the Women's Discus and the Women's Shot Put. She placed 13th for the Discus with 24.85m. For the Shot Put, she placed 10th with 8.74m/ 28ft 8.25 in.
 For the Men Long Jump, Tyler Vo who is also a First Year, placed 5th with a leap of 6.34m. Another two First Years, Tetsuo Eng and Nam Nguyen, placed 7th with 6.24m and 10th with 5.71m.

- Andrea Gallardo, a sophomore, received 7th place in the Women's 800 meter with a time of 2:25.76
- Senior Monica Fonseca was 16th in the Women's 1500 meter race with a PR of 5:01.56.
- For the Men's 800 meters, Aaron Hillberg, a sophomore, placed 2nd with a time of 1:58.18 contributing 10 points.
- In the Men's 100 meter dash, Bizzack got 8th place with a time of 11.34.
- For the Men's 400 meters, Carson Nagel, a sophomore, placed 4th with a time of 51.10 contributing 8 points.
