
Ruhl, Yee make All Tournament team as Banana Slugs finish as Conference runner-up

UC Santa Cruz has best showing ever at American Southwest Tournament
GLADEWATER, TEXAS - Freshman Charlotte Ruhl and sophomore Alyssa Yee were named All-Tournament as 25th-ranked UC Santa Cruz were edged by No. 18 Mary Hardin Baylor for the American Southwest Conference title at the Tempest Golf Club.
It was the highest finish ever for the Banana Slugs at conference, improving on their previous-best third place finish from last year. The Banana Slugs shot a total of 956 as a team, including a 321 on the final day that was the best score of all seven teams. The score allowed them to surge ahead of third-place UT Dallas and finish just behind UMHB by four total strokes.
Ruhl and Yee each shot in the 70s throughout the three-round tournament, with Ruhl finishing third with a three-day total of 232. Yee was fourth with a 235. Ruhl and Yee are the highest-ever placed Banana Slugs at the Conference meet since UC Santa Cruz joined the ASC in 2013-14.
Mikaela Paracuelles was 10th with a combined +28 (244). Gillian Mendoza was one stroke behind her for 11th and Mara Anunciacion was 22nd with a 255.
Mary Hardin-Baylor's Sarah Kmiecik led wire to wire all three rounds to earn the individual title with a five-over 219.
