Slugs Maintain Second Place on Day Two of ASC Championships

WHITNEY, Tx - The No. 24 UC Santa Cruz women's golf team remains in second place after Day Two of the American Southwest Conference Women's Golf Championships. The Slugs shot +35 as a team following their +27 in fridays round for a total of +62 total so far. With one more day to go the Slugs will try to close the gap on No. 16 Mary Hardin-Baylor.
ÂSamantha Shaw continued her success in the tournament shooting an impressive +5 for a total of 77 in day two. She sits tied for second place after the second round and is only one stroke behind first place. Olivia Lew had a nice day aswell shooting +9 for a total of 81 on the round which has her shooting up to fifth place. Shelly Areepitaks +12 was good enough for sixth place. Adeline Troung rounded off the top 10 for the Slugs. Her +10 performance has her tied for seventh.
ÂThe Slugs placed second across the board in Par 3s, 4s and 5s. They averaged 3.44 on 3s, 4.61 on 4s, and 5.38 on 5s. The also got the second most Pars with a total of 103 thus far in the tournament. Samantha Shaw was especially impressive on the Par 5s where she is currently +0.
