
Track continues strong indoor season in Seattle

SEATTLE- Fresh off outstanding performances at the conference meet, UC Santa Cruz continued their debut season of indoor track at the Seattle Pacific Invite. The Banana Slugs competed well against a field of several Division II and III athletes.
Both Distance Medley Relays did phenomenal, putting in times that rank among the Top 30 nationally for Division III squads.
The women's squad of Riley Martel-Phillips, Hana Yamamoto, Arabella Edler and Elana Muzzy improved by a whopping 32 seconds from their Conference Championship time. The quartet won their section in 12:15.12, which was 12.44 seconds faster than runner-up George Fox.
The men's team of Holden Spencer, Carson Nagel, Ethan Bizzack and Eric Jackson placed second in 10:04.77, 31.7 seconds better than their Conference performance. Jonathan Stenger won the 60 meter dash in 7.07 seconds. Eric Anderson finished his 800m race with a PR of 1:55.78.
Amaya Cummins was third in the 60 meter dash in 8.01. Ash Baudin turned in a PR of 5:10.28 in the mile. Amelia Tremain was fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.79. Abby McPhillips cleared the High Jump with a height of 1.63m (5ft 4.25in). She stays pace to qualify for the NCAAs with one week left in the indoor season.
