Banana Slugs sweep Slug Invite

Swim and Dive excels in early season meet. Beat Cal State East Bay for first time in over eight years
In their second meet of the year, both the men and women's swimming and diving teams won the Slug Invite on Friday held at the East Field House Pool.
The women totaled 551 points. Cal State, East Bay had 513, Biola scored 419 and College of Idaho was fourth with277
The highlight was the 400 Free Relay of Isobel Blue, Maddy Gruender, Tereza Shea and Emerald Kwang winning in 3:36.61, 2.45 seconds from the school record and edging CSUEB by 0.62 seconds. Gruender also won the 200 Free
"Several lifetime bests, and punctuated by the women winning the 4x100 free relay," said head coach Matt Crawford. "Emerald had an incredible anchor leg to close it out."
The men won the meet with 529 points. Biola University scored 488, followed by Southwestern Oregon CC with 448 and the College of Idaho with 156.
Presley Gosling won the 1000 Free. Brandon Le, Joe Guzman, Aaron Wu and Drake Southern were second in the medley relay in 1:38 flat, and Samuel Smith second in the 200 Free in 1:44.83.
Sachiko Correa and Joseph Akey swept the women and men's Diving competitions as well.
The Banana Slugs continue the weekend against most of the same teams at the Bay Area Invite hosted by Mills College on Saturday.
