
Banana Slugs Shine at NCAA Swim and Dive Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, In. – The UC Santa Cruz men's and women's swim and dive teams had a strong showing on the final day of the 2026 NCAA Division III Swim and Dive Championships. The Banana Slugs swam the 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, and 400 free relay with the relay squad highlighting the team's efforts with First Team All-American honors to close out this year's Championships.

Day Four Results
Kyle Reitan started the morning with a 44.14 second 100 free prelim before later swimming 44.03s to tie for 10th place overall, earning Second Team All-American honors. Katy Hawk turned in a 51.67 second race to finish in 37th place overall.

In the 200 back, Greyson Davies dropped nearly a full second off his seed time, touching the wall in 1:46.99 with a great second half finish, earning an 18th place finish overall.

In the 200 breast, Lillian Wolfinger highlighted UCSC's efforts, swimming a 2:19.56 to earn a spot in the Consolation final. During the evening session, Wolfinger swam 2:23.82 to finish in 16th, earning Second Team All-American honors for the first time in her career. Notably, Wolfinger's All-American honor is the first since 2008 for UCSC women's swim and dive. Namya Sarup also swam well in the 200 breast, turning in a 2:22.18 to take 32nd overall.

The 400 free relay team of Kyle Reitan, JJ Stoen, Bryson Schmid, and Massimo Reyna combined for a time of 2:58.57 in the morning prelims, earning themselves a spot in the Championship final. UC Santa Cruz closed out the National Championships in stellar fashion, combining for a time of 2:59.33 to take seventh overall, earning the relay crew First Team All-American honors.

As a team, the UC Santa Cruz men's squad finished in 17th place with 70.5 points, standing out as one of the best programs in the country and a fan favorite at the IU Natatorium. On the women's side, UCSC earned a 44th place finish with one point thanks to the All-American finish from Lillian Wolfinger. Â
