Delia Mack

2024 marks the start of Delia Mack’s tenure as the Associate Head Coach for Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field with the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs. Mack joins the Banana Slugs coaching staff after serving as an assistant at Salisbury University in Maryland for the past four seasons.
 
While coaching at Salisbury University, Delia earned a Master’s Degree in Health and Human Performance.  Delia helped coach Salisbury to the 2023 Coast-to-Coast Men’s Outdoor Conference Title.  During the 2024 season, Delia worked with fourteen Coast-to-Coast Individual Champions in the Sprints, Jumps, and Relays.  During her time at Salisbury, Delia worked with All-Americans Kai Smith (200m-2024) and Rashawn Markman (Triple Jump 2022, 2024).  Delia was also a two time Women in Coaching Forum through the USTFCCCA Coaches Convention.
 
A four-year varsity letter winner at Shenandoah University, Delia excelled as a student-athlete in the jumps, long sprints, and combined events while obtaining a degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Kinesiology and Coaching.  Delia was a 3x All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Award Winner, 2x USTFCCCA All-Region Honoree, and a Old Dominion Athletic Conference Distance Medley Relay Champion in 2020.  Delia was also the track and field representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

During the hiring process, Delia's experience as both a student-athlete and as a coach made her an ideal candidate for us. Delia has experience in a number of different events as a former multi-eventer and will be a great addition to the program. Having coached against her the last few seasons in the C2C Conference, I know we are excited to have her positivity and excitement on our side this season." - said head coach David Klech.
