A two-time Team Captain, Davis Kepon joined the program as a student-athlete in 2017 was one of the first Banana Slug Track & Field Athletes at UC Santa Cruz. Davis immediately increased the standard of Track & Field at UC Santa Cruz by becoming a Regional and Nationally Ranked student-athlete.
As a Coach with the program, Davis was pivotal in the development of NCAA Qualifiers Conrad Pereira in the Decathlon and Abby McPhillips in the High Jump. In Spring 2022, he was named USTFCCCA Women’s West Region Assistant Coach of the Year after Indoor Track and Field's debut season. Davis directed Abby McPhillips to a 10th place finish at the National Championships in the High Jump and was the top ranked High Jumper and Pentathlete in the West Region.
"Davis Kepon came to our program as an incredibly talented student-athlete with a really high Track & Field IQ. He dabbled in the Decathlon and really has an appreciation for all of the events. His ability to connect with the student-athlete, and provide quality coaching cues is a huge asset to our program," said Head Coach David Klech.
As a student-athlete, Davis graduated from UC Santa Cruz in the Spring of 2018 with a degree in Marine Biology. Post undergrad, Davis earned a Master’s Degree and teaching Credential in the Summer of 2022. Davis is the School Record Holder in the High Jump and Javelin as well remaining on the School's All Time Top 10 List in the 4x100m Relay, 200m, and the Decathlon.
