UC Santa Cruz Men's and Women's Tennis Earn Eight Academic All-District Honors

SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – Eight Banana Slugs from men's and women's tennis earned a spot on the 2024-25 Academic All-District Team, as announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on last week. To be nominated for College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must participate in at least 70 percent of their team's dual matches, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and reach sophomore athletic and academic standing at the school.
On the women's side, Sara Beckman, Melody Ghaffari, Natalie Sprenger, and Chloe Wu earned Academic All-District honors while Adam Hidas, Mayur Nookala, Benjamin Wang, and Andrew Tjoa earned honors on the men's side.
 
Beckman was a standout for UC Santa Cruz, earning First Team All-C2C honors in both singles and doubles with Natlie Sprenger earning First Team honors in doubles as Beckman's partner while picking up a Second Team nod in singles. Beckman was a consistent performer for the Banana Slugs, going 9-4 in singles down the home stretch of the season while Sprenger earned four-straight wins to end the season. Wu was a force for the Banana Slugs in the No. 5 spot, winning eighth straight singles matches and 10 of the last 11, to end the season. Ghaffari played the No. 3 spot in singles towards the end of the season and closed out the season on an 11-4 singles match run which included a stretch of six wins in a row.
 
Andrew Tjoa and Benjmain Wang also led the way for UCSC on the court this season with Tjoa taking home First Team All-C2C honors in singles and doubles while Wang joined Tjoa with First Team doubles honors. Tjoa won six of his last nine singles matches with Wang going 6-4 down the stretch of the season. Mayur Nookala and Adam Hidas played well for UCSC this season with Nookala winning his last three matches and last six out of eight with Hidas winning three out of his last four matches.
