
Slugs Drop Matches to Sewanee and Haverford in SoCal Doubleheader

UC Santa Cruz 0, No. 10 Sewanee 4
The doubles were a sweep, all ending at 6-2. After which the singles courts went similarly. Among the three singles courts that did end up being completed, only No. 5 went to three sets. No. 5 Benjamin Wang won his second set 6-4 after falling 6-1 in the first. The last set was a nail biter, but unfortunately, Wang fell 7-5. Notably, No. 3 Adam Hidas, No. 4 Mayur Nookala, and No. 6 Rocco Melendez were all unable to finish their matches as the Tigers had already reached four wins.
UC Santa Cruz 2, No. 39 Haverford 5
Things started well for the Slugs with Doubles No. 1 Andrew Tjoa and Adam Hidas taking a 6-3 victory. The success continued with No. 3 Rocco Melendez and Benjamin Wang who won their set 6-2. All but two of the Singles courts were down to the wire later in the contest. No. 1 Radin Sadeghi fell in three sets after winning the first 6-3. No. 2 Andrew Tjao lost his first set 6-2 but fought back into it with a 7-5 set 2 victory. Unfortunately, the last set went 6-3 in favor of the Fords. The one singles win that the Slugs were able to pick up came off the back of No. 3 Mayur Nookala, who won 6-1, 6-4. No. 4 Adam Hidas won his first set 6-4 but narrowly lost in three sets to his competition. No. 6 Hari Raghavan was also able to bring it to three sets after a close 7-6 victory in the second but fell in three sets as well to ultimately decide the contest.
