Hofstetter places sixth in Decathlon debut

TURLOCK, CA – Day two of the Stanislaus Multis, where first year Evan Hofstetter completed his first-ever collegiate decathlon, placing 6th overall with 5,335 points. Hofstetter did a phenomenal job in his first decathlon despite no points in the pole vault event and participating in the long jump, javelin throw, and 1500m events for the first time in his collegiate career.
His first event of the day, the 100m hurdles, had Hofstetter finishing with a time of 19.00s. In his second event, the discus throw, Hofstetter threw 27.83m (91 ft 4 in.), finishing 7th overall for the event. Hofstetter scored no height overall in the pole vault event. In his first collegiate effort in the javelin throw event, Hofstetter threw a 39.07m (128 ft. 2 in.). To end the day, Hofstetter ran his first collegiate 1500m event, scoring 1st place overall with a time of 4:24.78.
Hofstetter's point total was the sixth-best Decathlon score in school history, while the javelin throw was the seventh-best in school history.
