Banana Slugs in 10th after one round at Spring Invite

PACIFIC GROVE (3-30) –Against one of the largest and most talented fields they've ever hosted, UC Santa Cruz women's golf finished the first round in 10th place at their Spring Invite hosted at the Pacific Grove Golf Links.
Out of the twelve schools competing, five are nationally ranked. Four are in the top ten, including defending national champion George Fox.
The Banana Slugs had a team score of 332, just eight shots out of sixth place. Alyssa Yee was Saturday's top individual for the Banana Slugs. The senior finished with a 3-over-75 on the day, good for 11th place overall.
"I played pretty well," Yee said. "Playing at Pacific Grove is pretty cool. It was really nice weather until the back nine, when it rained a few times."Â
Mikaela Paracuelles was 41st after a score of 82 (10-over). Isabella Esquivel was tied for 60th with a score of 87 followed by Elana McGrew who was 62nd with an 88.
The Spring Invite concludes Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 7:30 am.
