Day 3 of PCSC Swim Meet

MONTEREY PARK– UC Santa Cruz Swim and Dive continued to pile on the points as the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships entered its third day. The women continued their run of several great times in all four styles. Kirsten Boyle was fifth in the 100 Fly in 57.53. Coralie Norenberg was 10th in the 100 Back in a PR 57.89, the second-fastest time ever at UC Santa Cruz. Maddy Gruender was third in the 200 Freestyle in 1:51.75 with Tereza Shea 10th in 1:54.06. Gabrielle Nguyen (1:06.79) and Zoe Gronert (1:08.09) were sixth and seventh respectively in the 100 Breaststroke.
Highlights for the men saw Karsten Hsiao finishing second in the 100 Breaststroke in 56.32. Morgan Madril was fourth in the 100 Fly in 49.79. Three Banana Slugs were in the top ten in the 200 Freestyle, with Bryson Schmid 5th in 1:42.75, Massimo Reyna 7th in 1:43.43 and Adam Sinclair ninth in 1:42.60. Brandon Le placed 9th in the 100 Back with a new school record of 51.23, 0.4 seconds better than previous record holder Ethan Porter in 10th place. The day finished with the 400 Yard Medley relay of Porter, Hsiao, Madril, and Sinclair placing fourth with a new school record of 3:24.17. The men finished the day in second place with 487.5 points, two points behind Biola. The women are fourth with 599 points going into the final day on Saturday.
