Box Score REDLANDS-- UC Santa Cruz twice erased a two-goal deficit in the last twenty minutes, but couldn't complete the comeback in a wild 4–3 loss at Redlands.
The Banana Slugs (0–2) held the Bulldogs to just one goal at the break. However, Redlands scored twice in the first four minutes of the second half. That made it 3-0.
UC Santa Cruz found their offense and in the 74th minute,
Tyler Allred scored his first goal of the season. 3:19 later,
Max Beldner got the ball into the net off a scramble after a free kick to make it 3-2. However, Redlands struck back less than three minutes later to make it 4-2. The Banana Slugs didn't quit, and with six minutes left
Adrian Jacobs had a long run through the defense and knocked it home to make it a one goal game again.
The Banana Slugs had one last chance in the last minute, but the shot went high and wide and Redlands was able to escape with the win. The hosts finished with a 14 to 10 shot advantage, but UC Santa Cruz dominated possession in the second half, with all ten of their shots coming after halftime while holding Redlands to just 5. UC Santa Cruz returns home for their home opener on Friday September 8th.
