Banana Slugs split weekend Oregon trip

UC Santa Cruz opened their dual season with a split in Oregon over the weekend.
The Banana Slugs fell at George Fox 8-1 on Friday before beating Pacific by the same score on Saturday.
Praneet Varade won the only match on Friday, with a dramatic 7-5, 1-6, 10-6 win at No. 2 singles. First year Benjamin Wang also had a marathon at No. 5 singles before his Bruin opponent survived 7-6, 5-7, 10-8.
On Saturday, the Banana Slugs grabbed control early by winning all three doubles matches. Andrew Tjoa and Adam Hidas then won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles in straight sets. Ryan Lam and Radin Sadeghi then closed the dual with three-set victories to send UC Santa Cruz home happy.
