Arman Salimi came up with big stops at the right time as UC Santa Cruz overcame Cal Lutheran 3-2 on Saturday. The Banana Slugs improved to 6-7-3 with their fourth-straight win. Â
UC Santa Cruz scored on their first shot of the game, when Nava took a short pass from
Acer Cristea and slotted it home in the fourth minute. Jacobs doubled the score in the 13th minute with a right-footed blast from inside the box for his team-leading fifth goal of the year.
UC Santa Cruz almost added a third goal in the 20th minute but it was called back for offside.

The Kingsmen came back and pulled one back in the 37th minute when Cesar Sagastume had a rebound off a missed shot. The hosts almost tied it with 2:24 left before halftime, but Salimi made a diving save off a penalty to keep the Banana Slugs up 2-1 at halftime.
UC Santa Cruz made it 3-1 in the 52nd minute when Bravo slotted home his second goal of the year off a cross from
Tyler Allred. The hosts, however, got another penalty with under ten minutes left. This time they did convert it and got the game back within one goal.
The Banana Slugs defense tightened up and Salimi had another save with under two minutes left. The visitors kept the ball far away on the last third to eat up the clock.
Salimi finished with five saves for the day. UC Santa Cruz stays in the Southland one more night to face old rival Chapman, Sunday afternoon at one.
