Players to watch: Riley Glendinning (3 goals, 0 assists, 6 points in Fall 2019), Elizabeth Williams (1 goal, 0 assist, 2 points), Kate Prudent (1 goal, 1 assist, 3 points)
UC Santa Cruz has beaten Whitman the last two times these teams have met on the field. In a shortened 2020 season, Whitman went 0-7 before having to discontinue the season. Especially after losing most of their starting lineup the past year, Whitman may have a fight ahead of them. In 2019, Whitman finished their season 4-14 (4-12 Conference) contrasting UC Santa Cruz's 2019 season record (12-4-2).
Chapman Panthers 1-0 Overall, 0-0 SCIAC
Players to watch: Anna Montemor (7 goals, 4 assists, 18 points in Fall 2019), Riley Pidgeon (4 goals, 3 assist, 11 points),
Kelsey Bland (9 GA, .53 GAA, .899 save percentage, 80 saves)
This Sunday will mark the first time since 2018 that the Slugs and Panthers have seen each other on the field. In that last match, Chapman took home the win 5-1. Chapman's latest season ended 11-4-3 overall and 7-3-2Â in their conference, and with a diverse age group, they should be a tough competitor in this tournament. Chapman's 2019 starting lineup consisted of players between freshman and junior year, now settled seniors and juniors. This will be an exciting game to see how each team has put in work over the past year.
