CLAREMONT - Twelfth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer scored four first-half goals as UC Santa Cruz fell 6-0 at the Sagehens on Tuesday.
Amanda Scott had the only shot of the first half for UCSC, a 30-yard rocket that was saved by Pomona. She also had a phenomenal shot from the same distance eight minutes into the second half that the Pomona keeper barely saved and pushed off the crossbar.
Karina Bulli had a good chance for the Banana Slugs in the 72nd minute when she split her two defenders and let out a shot from just outside the box.
Alyssa Diaz-Tucker had five saves on the day and entered the school's top ten for career saves. Substitute Samantha Coelho had three saves in her first action as a Banana Slug. UC Santa Cruz returns to NorCal for a Saturday tilt at Menlo College.
