EAGLE ROCK - UC Santa Cruz played till the point of exhaustion in their 0-0 tie to the Occidental Tigers 0-0 in double overtime. The Slugs now have a record of 5-5-2 on the season. 

The Slugs played phenomenally well against a skilled Occidental Tigers offense.  The Slugs were determined to keep Occidental well below their season offensive averages of 1.77 goals/game.

A shot by Keith McCarty in the 11th minute, saved by the Tiger's goalkeeper, was the closest the Slugs got to scoring in the first half.

In the second half, Christian Locatelli had the opportunity to score but it went just over the net. 

The game went into double overtime. In the second overtime, it seemed like the Slugs were more eager to score and get the game over with. At 2:49, UCSC was granted a free kick, taken by Will Barba, which looked as if the Slugs were finally going to get on the scoreboard, until the Tiger's keeper once again rose to the occasion, tipping the ball up and out. 

The game ended 0-0 in double overtime, neither team able to finish through the net. 

The Tigers had 17 shots, in comparison to the Slugs' 6 shots, yet still played with the Tigers throughout the game. Goalkeeper Andrew Pimentel ended with 5 saves.  

UC Santa Cruz will play their next game at home against the University of Redlands on Wednesday, October 16, at 2:00pm.
