For the first time since 2011, there was a victor in the Menlo-UC Santa Cruz game.  UC Santa Cruz had their regular season finale against their old rival and won 3-0 to improve to 5-7-4 on a chilly day in Santa Cruz.

Every game when the teams had met the past three years has ended in a 2OT tie. This year, UC Santa Cruz pounced on counters and played great defense to get the win. Menlo fell to 8-7-2.

The Slugs took their lead on their first shot, when Octavio Rodriguez sped down the right flank on a break and found Sam Horton, who slotted it home in the 5th minute.

Rodriguez made the score 2-0  in the 29th minute when he intercepted a clearing pass, found himself 1-on-1 with the Oaks goalkeeper and knocked it home.

Freshman Jacob Myers Norys completed scoring in the 88th minute when he collected a pass, shook hs defender at the far post, cut in and let a shot from ten-yards.

Myers Norys scored his fifth goal in the final four games and finished with seven goals on the year. He is the first freshman to lead the Slugs in scoring since Marcus Hammel in 2002.

Goalkeeper Connor Anderson kept the shutout with a great save four minutes before halftime. Menlo's David Beary stole a backpass but Anderson came up to deny him at the top of the box. Anderson finished four saves in goal and Christian Deguzman added 2 more in relief.

The Slugs overcame a 11-2 deficit in corner kicks and were outshot by their opponents 16-12.
