It Was A Happy Valentine's Day for the Lady Slugs

The UCSC Women's Basketball team celebrated a great Valentine's Day as they defeated CSU East Bay 64-59. Not only was it Valentine's Day, but it was also the three seniors last home game at the West Field House. The Slugs celebrated and thanked Megan Gaynor, Rachel Ocampo, and Perbey Pandac for all their hard work and dedication to the UCSC Women's Basketball program.

And the team said farewell in fanshion. Winning their sixth game out of their last seven, the Slugs finished the game with four players scoring in double figures, two of which were seniors. Gaynor lead the way scoring 21 points, grabbing 9 rebounds, while shooting 50% from the field and finishing 11-11 from the free-throw line. Ocampo followed Gaynor with 18 points, shooting 4-9 from the 3-point line. Point guard Talia Joyce finished the game with 13 while Kayleigh Calandri finished the game with 10.

Next the Slugs will travel down to Chapman University for their Independent tournament on February 23rd and 24th. Their seeding for the tournament will be determind on Monday, February 19th.
