Alexa Litchev was one rebound short of a double double with 14 points and nine rebounds.
How It Happened
Christopher Newport got off to a blistering start, using a 13-0 run to put UC Santa Cruz behind just under four minutes into the contest. The Captains smothered the Slugs on defense, holding UCSC to just nine points in the first quarter while increasing their lead to 19 points at 28-9.
UC Santa Cruz responded in the second, narrowly outscoring the Captains 13-12 but CNU took a strong 40-22 lead into halftime. UC Santa Cruz recorded 16 points in the third quarter with eight off the hands of
Emilie Ngo while
Alexa Litchev (6pts) and
Lindsay Zientek (2pts) made up the other eight. Despite the increase in offense, Christopher Newport didn't hold back, outscoring UCSC 22-16 in the third and later 14-12 in the fourth to seal the 76-50 victory over the Slugs in the C2C Semifinal.
