SANTA CRUZ -- The UCSC Men's Soccer defeated the Bearcats from Willamette on Sunday, winning 3-0.
Junior Defenseman Nick Kowba got the scoring started in the 18th minute on a direct kick. Freshman Forward Bryan Baird and Junior Forward Barr Haney each added a goal later in the first half, effectively putting the game away.
UCSC outshot Willamette by a staggering 33-7 margin. Senior Goalkeeper Daniel Chamberlain had 4 saves before coming out for Freshman Joshua Holtrust in the 78th minute. Willamette did not get a shot-on-goal for the rest of the match.
The team's record now stands at 6-2-1. They play their next match next Sunday against Marian College in a game hosted by CSU Monterey Bay. Game time is at 12:00 PM.
