Loren Powers began serving UC Santa Cruz as the Assistant Director for Operations & Member Services in February of 2026, where he oversees daily operations, membership services, facilities coordination, and program execution in support of a dynamic campus recreation environment. His leadership centers on operational excellence, team development, and creating meaningful
recreation and wellness experiences that strengthen campus community.
Prior to UCSC, Loren served as Vice President and General Manager for The Bay Club Company, leading full-scale operations including financial strategy, team development, compliance, facilities oversight, and long-term planning. He previously served as Director of Athletics and Student Wellness at Stratford Schools, where he helped open Stratford Preparatory (grades 5–12) and built the foundation for its high school athletics and wellness programming. He also unified Stratford’s 25+ K–8 campuses through middle school sports leagues and implemented health and wellness initiatives across the broader network.
With more than 15 years of experience coaching sports and leading wellness programs, Loren has worked across youth, high school, collegiate, and professional levels of athletics. His experience in collegiate and professional football environments helped shape his standard of excellence, organization, and program development. Throughout his career, he has designed performance and wellness programs rooted in evidence-based training, character development, and long-term health principles.
Loren holds a Master of Arts in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from California Lutheran University. His career has been centered on athletics, health, and wellness — building programs and cultures that help individuals and communities thrive.
