Second Annual Run Like a Slug 5k

SANTA CRUZ, Ca. - On Friday, May 15, the UC Santa Cruz Athletics and Recreation department hosted the second annual Run Like a Slug 5k. More than 1,000 runners, walkers, students, alumni, families, and community members gathered on the beautiful campus of UC Santa Cruz this past weekend for the annual Run Like a Slug 5K, creating an energetic morning centered around movement, community, and wellness.
Set among the scenic views and redwood-lined roads of campus, participants took part in the event’s 5K course while supporters lined the route to cheer on Banana Slugs as they crossed the finish line. Alongside the race festivities, attendees also enjoyed the accompanying Wellness Fair, which featured health and wellness resources and campus partners.
The event showcased the strong connection between UC Santa Cruz Athletics and Recreation and our community, bringing together participants from across campus and beyond for a celebration of health, wellness, and Banana Slugs spirit.
