AT UCSC: After missing 2016-17 season, came back strong to lead Slugs in scoring and rebounding in 2017-18. Earned D3hoops.com 3rd team All-Region, Hoops in Hawai'i Classic MVP, and First Team All-Independent while setting school single-game and single-season rebounding record. Pursuing his Masters in Computer Science in his last year of eligibility.

Played final six games of 2014-15 season after strong play on Slugs' JV team. Started 24 of 25 games in 2015-16. Averaged 11.7 points (high 25 vs LaVerne) and team-high 7.8 rebounds (season-high 16 vs West Coast Baptist). Was named to First Team All-Independent.

HIGH SCHOOL: Sam graduated from Vacaville HS in 2014. He earnd two varsity letters in Basketball and Swimming. He was awarded MVP in basketball in 2014, MEL All-League in Basketball and MEL league All-star in 2014.

PERSONAL: Sam is the son of Mary and Lewis Gabbard. He has three siblings, Eric, Ben, and Jack.
